For thousands of years and hundreds of generations, the Lisjan Ohlone, Karkin Ohlone and Bay Miwok people have belonged to their ancestral home and unceded land now known as the East Bay Area, the area I serve. I express gratitude and appreciation to those who, from time immemorial, have been cultivating respectful and nourishing reciprocal relationships with the land, plants and animals with whom we share this place.
