An grand old Coast Live Oak stands sentinel over this tiny garden, providing an opportunity to create a shady low-water native plant habitat (Vine Maple, Snowberry, Sword Ferns, Douglas Iris, Pitcher Sage, Coral Bells etc.), as well as a small family play space using drought-tolerant Kurapia. The mansard roof and Live Oak provided the opportunity to play with scale, form and enclosure using new carpentry elements to create a sweet private refuge outside the home's living room doors.
